My husband found this place after doing a lot of research. He wanted to send me on a writing retreat to a cabin for my birthday. I stayed Tuesday and left Friday. Frequently, I didn't see anyone in the main office, so you're left to your own devices. There is a number to call if you need someone. The cabin itself was lovely inside--actual polished and varnished wood instead of the plywood I'm getting used to seeing at other places--and had an RV toilet in a small room off to the side. I loved the use of the mini-fridge and microwave and AC, and there was a shelf that I used like a desk. On the wall was a shelf with posts to hang things and get some of your stuff off the floor. My cabin was right next to the pond. It was a bit cold, so I didn't use the swimming area. It seems incorrect to call it a beach, as the swimming area is a small area of sand and leads into a pond. This is like what I grew up with, so I was fine with it! To respond to some other reviews: yes, there is a correctional facility to the left of the campground, but there is also a school across the street, a horse ranch and suburban homes to the right, and a completed landfill (meaning it's just a big hill covered in grass) to the south. I'd definitely visit here again and want to bring my husband later this summer. If only I didn't have to drive through Chicago to get there!
A gem in the rough! This quaint campground is nestled amongst the neighborhood like a forest oasis. The grounds are clean, well kept up with, and they are building improvements to the site with every visit. The mini furnished cabins are a lovely addition for those that want to camp like my wife and I but cannot easily sleep on the ground. The tiny buildings have electricity, basic flush toilet, mini fridge\microwave, and bunk beds with protected mattresses. The owners are very friendly and helpful folk. The campgrounds even have a decent sized pond stocked with fish, a dock, paddle boat, and opportunity for swimming. Overall, I definitely recommend this place for those that want to get away from urban life without having to trek too far to do so.
A very nice quiet campground. We tent camp and were very pleased with our site. The price was reasonable and camp staff were very accommodating. I would highly recommend it.
This place is beautiful and hidden. I've lived in Oshkosh for over 5 years now and I've only recently discovered this place. There's a mini woods with trails, a little pond with paddle boat and I've heard that somehow a plane lands in there.
Very nice and clean. Great host. There are some nice little walking trails on site and beautiful water views. I loved the little bridge that leads to a tent camp site. If we had a tent instead of a camper that would have been am awesome spot. The sites were a little smaller than my preference but if camping in a group of friends/family would not be an issue. We will come back!
