Tried to call non-emergency number to just ask overview of area, crime, etc... no answer... let it ring at least a dozen times on each attempt.

Wonderful and professional. These are good guys. The response time is amazing.

I've always had good experiences with OPD. Today, not so much. Been a broken down truck in front of my apt building for a week. Smelled gasoline coming from it so called it in. Cop asks me what I want him to do. Says he know the people & their phone isn't working. So issue a ticket! He says he'll have the night guys do it. Later, in a store parking lot, there is a cat running around. The "owners" show up and try for sometime to catch the cat. Finally do. 5 mins later they put the cat back outside. What? Called OPD. Don't know if the cat is being abandoned or what. Waited an hour, no OPD. Really lame OPD, really lame.

Called in to the department with a question about my parking ticket. (Parked right next to my brothers house, and was told by the man that helped sell the house that we owned up to half the road and that's why we would have to help pay anything that goes on with it/also the grass) I was rushed by the lady who answered was treated rudely and ultimately she was just a prick and tried moving me along when I told her that the reason I partially got the ticket was a new policy that I'd never heard of. Again she was rude and ended up hanging up on me. Apperantly I parked on the odd side of the road (next to my brothers house since we apperantly *owned* half the road) not only that, I found out that theirs nothing going on on these roads at the time I received the ticket. Litterally *off limits* just so the police can get a little more money in their pockets. Just like most places their becoming to money craving useless bastards wanna protect me at the price of not letting me park.

Honestly, the police in Oshkosh are pretty cool compared to some of the other cities I've been in. Chances are, if they're stopping you, you're either breaking a law or you're acting REALLY weird. Every officer I've talked to is understanding and patient, as well. I mean, sure, the many parking tickets are kind of absurd. But that's the law, I guess... They just enforce it. I've learned the system, and haven't been ticketed in a year or so.
